LOFT CONVERSION
Loft Conversions
In most cases, when carrying out a loft conversion you will need to cut into the Party Wall to form pockets to insert a padstone, steel plate or bearing plate in order to rest the steel beam on.
If this is the case, you are required to serve Notice on the Adjoining Owner. (This is sometimes referred to as a Party Structure Notice).
- A Section 2.2(f) for cutting into the wall to make the pockets.
- Also most likely needed is Section 2.2(n) for exposing of the party wall while the roof is off.
- And if you intend to raise the Party Wall for the side of the Dormer cheek Section 2.2(a).
- If a flashing is needed to weatherproof this can be included under 2.2(f).
If this all seems a little too much and you would like some advice or would like us to draft and serve Notice on your behalf, please feel free to contact us.
